I saw #301 in my thankfulness journal as I was looking through it for things to share in my post a few days ago. I can't help but share this...mind you, I love CS Lewis (as do most "well-read, wannabe 'awesome', reformed, gospel-centered, think we are cooler than we really are, young, old, and really everything else in between" folk...I could go on and on). At this point, I don't even remember how I came across this. Maybe a friend, maybe it was quoted in another book I was reading (haven't read any of his lately). Well...here is the 301st thing I was thankful for.
"Pain insists upon being attended to. God whispers to us in our pleasures, but shouts in our pains. It is his megaphone." ~CS Lewis
At the times when we are pressed, afflicted, being warred against, humbled and humiliated, broken, and low, we are often tempted to believe that He is far from us. Rather, the exact opposite is true in so many occasions in life. He often uses my pain, persecution, and affliction (from whatever source) to remind me that He is ever present and draws near to those who draw near to Him. Praise be to the God of all comfort...let us stop and listen to His whispers in the quiet, still times in life. And let us rejoice that He grabs our attention and holds it during the pain. Those shouts let us know that our attending Physician is at work and cares deeply for His wounded ones.

Great stuff! So true for all of us during this season of our lives. I've definitely lived in the reality of that quote since being here in Mada. That quote is from The Problem of Pain. Great book. Check it out! Thanks for sharing! Hope things are going well!
